What Cape Coral projects fill a dumpster

  • Storm

    Pool cages, roofs and docks

Ian in 2022 tore screen enclosures, roofs and docks off homes across the Cape, and flooded the southern canal neighborhoods. Replacements are still under way.

  • Remodel

    1970s to 2000s canal homes

Many homes along the canals were built from the 1970s on and are due for kitchens, baths, flooring and impact windows.

  • New build

    Infill on vacant lots

Cape Coral was platted with far more lots than homes, so new single-family construction on vacant lots is constant.

Lee County debris and placement rules

  • Burrowing owls nest on many vacant and residential lots in Cape Coral and are protected by state law. Do not place a container on or near a marked burrow; ask the city or the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission if unsure.
  • Most Cape Coral streets have swales. Keep containers on the driveway, off swales and culverts.
  • A container in the street generally needs approval from the City of Cape Coral. Check before delivery.
  • Seawall and dock projects near the canals need their own permits; keep debris out of the water and away from storm drains.
  • After a declared storm, separate vegetative debris and construction debris at the curb for city collection.

Local rules change and are enforced by the city or county, not by us or the hauler. Confirm anything that affects your job with the office named above before the container arrives.

Cape Coral dumpster rental

For dumpster rental in Cape Coral, call (407) 250-9022. Tell us the address and the job, and we will connect you with an independent hauler that serves Lee County. The provider quotes, delivers and hauls. We cover every part of the Cape, from the Gulf-access canals in the south to the newer areas in the north and northwest.

A planned city of canals

Cape Coral was laid out from the late 1950s as a planned community, with a vast grid of lots cut by canals. It has one of the most extensive canal systems of any city anywhere. Many homes back onto water, with docks, seawalls and boat lifts, and many have screened pool cages. That shapes the kinds of debris people need to get rid of: aluminum, screen, concrete, wood decking and pilings, alongside normal household and remodeling debris.

Ian and after

Hurricane Ian in 2022 hit the Cape hard, with surge in the southern canal neighborhoods and wind damage everywhere. Pool cages, lanais and roofs were stripped across the city, and docks and seawalls were damaged along the canals. Much of the repair work has been done, but some homes are still waiting on contractors, permits or insurance.

Owls, swales and lots

Cape Coral has one of the largest populations of burrowing owls in Florida, and they often nest on vacant lots and in front yards. Burrows are protected by state law and are often marked with stakes. Keep containers, trucks and debris well away from them.

Streets drain through swales, with culverts under driveways. Keep the container on the driveway, not the swale.

New construction

With so many vacant lots, new homes go up across the Cape every year. Builders typically run 30 or 40-yard containers through framing and drywall, then a final clean-out container. See construction dumpster rental for more.

Florida dumpster questions, answered

Can I put a dumpster on a vacant lot next door in Cape Coral?

What size dumpster for a pool cage replacement?

A 10 or 15-yard usually holds the aluminum and screen from a typical cage. Some providers recycle aluminum, so ask.
